How do I get a guy to notice me?

There's this guy at my school that I really like. The thing is, I don't really think he ever notices me. We have math, p.e, and advocacy together. (Advocacy is a small 20min cl, kinda like homeroom.) Also he hangs out with all those girls who kiss up to teachers and think they're so popular and cool. My friends are NOTHING like them. Anyways, how can I get him to notice me without seeming like a stalker or a freak. And I sit by him in p.e so if you could give me any tips on starting a conversation, that would be cool. Thanks.
