Would it be unusual as a white person to learn a native american/aboriginal language?

I want to learn the Cree language. Cree is the most spoken aboriginal language both in numbers and is widespread across the country. About 200,000 people know the language. I want to learn Cree because in my field of work, knowing a lot of languages is very beneficial.
