Does the United States have what it takes to last a 1000 years as it is today?

The southwestern states are already heavily populated with latinos, this is after all a mostly latino hemisphere isn't it? If the trend continues what effect will that have on the united states, will the southwest eventually separate and become a new nation? Will it have closer ties to Mexico or the USA if it happened? What does everyone think?
