How did enlightenment ideas influence art and literature?

It's influenced quite a bit of artists and writers for ages. Such films as The Matrix, V for Vendetta, Holy Mountain, Donnie Darko etc... are all about Enlightenment. As an artist myself, it has been the influence of all my pieces. Enlightenment is one of the most beautiful things you can achieve and it has inspired some of the most overwhelming stories and paintings I have ever seen.
